Top Box Office Grossers: First Week in February

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 30 January-5 February 2009. New release The Uninvited opened in the number 3 slot, taking in just under $12.0 million. Last week’s top genre flick, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, dropped from #2 to #6, earning $10.2 million, for a two-week total of $35.8 million. My Bloody Valentine 3-D dropped from #6 to #9, grossing $6.0 million, for a three-week total of $46.3 million. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button slipped from #9 to #10, bringing in $4.7 million, for a six-week total of $117.6 million.
Inkheart fell from #7 to #11, taking in $4.6 million, for a two-week total of $13.7 million. The Unborn dropped from #13 to #21, grossing $1.5 million, for a four-week total of $41.6 million. Twilight slipped from #21 to #24, earning another $900 thousand, for an eleven-week total of $187.3 million. Bedtime Stories fell from #18 to #25, bringing in $650 thousand, for a six-week total of $108.7 million.
