Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 9-15 January 2009. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the top genre film, dropped from #2 to #5 this week, grossing $12.1 million for a three-week total of $97.0 million. Bedtime Stories, dropped from #3 to #6, taking in $10.3 million for a three-week total of $98.9 million.
Twilight inched down, from #11 to #12, earning $3.9 million for an eight-week total of $182.5 million. The Tale of Despereaux dropped from #7 to #14, grossing $3.3 million for a four-week total of $48.2 million. The Day the Earth Stood Still dropped from #9 to #17, taking in $2.1 million for a five-week total of $77.8 million. Bolt was down from #14 to #19, bringing in $1.7 million for an eight-week total of $112.1 million. The Spirit fell from #12 to #23, taking in another $800 thousand for a three-week total of $19.7 million.
Quantum of Solace fell out of the top 25. Last week, its eighth on the charts, it was at #20.
