Steven Vander Ark’s The Lexicon published larger than planned

Publishers Weekly is reporting that RDR Books has increased its first printing of Steve Vander Ark‘s The Lexicon: An Unauthorized Guide to Harry Potter Fiction and Related Materials. Originally planned for a 10,000-copy printing, early interested from wholesalers and retailers has caused them to increase that number to 40,000 (and they’d already shipped 35,000 of them by last week).
The book is a revised edition of the one that had been the subject of a lawsuit by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. After Rowling won the original suit, Vander Ark and RDR publisher Roger Rapoport decided that, rather than appealing, they’d modify the book (see this article for previous details).
In addition to the $24.95, 368-page trade paperback US edition, The Lexicon is being published in the UK, and Canadian rights have been sold to Ariane Editions.
