New Scientist special sf issue available

Michael A. Burstein reports that New Scientist magazine has the results of their poll of the best science fiction films and books (which we announced in this article). The science fiction special, subtitled “The future of a genre”, appears in print in the 15 November issue, and it’s available now on the web at this link.
As part of the issue, they ask “What does the future hold for the genre of science fiction?” and get answers from Margaret Atwood, Stephen Baxter, William Gibson, Ursula K. Le Guin, Kim Stanley Robinson, and Nick Sagan. They also review several books, post the results of their readers’ poll (favorite films: Blade Runner and 2001: A Space Odyssey; favorite books: Frank Herbert’s Dune and Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series), announce the competition winners (Nicolas Jonkers of Brisbane, Australia; Chris Tolbert of St. Robert, Missouri; and Christian Breiding of Santa Monica, California), and more.
