Susan Howe, Orion Books‘s Rights Director, sold US rights to two fantasy trilogies, both to Ginjer Buchanan at Berkley Ace. These subsidiary rights deals are for series to which Orion originally bought world rights from agent John Jarrold:
The debut novel by Stephen Deas, The Adamantine Palace, will be published in both hardcover and trade paperback in the UK in March 2009. The book, the first of a trio of dragon fantasies, originally sold to Simon Spanton at Gollancz earlier this year. In the US, it will appear as a hardcover sometime in 2009.
The debut novel by Suzanne McLeod, The Sweet Scent of Blood, was published in the UK in hardcover and trade paperback in September. The second in the “Spellcrackers” urban fantasy series, The Cold Kiss of Death, will appear from Gollancz in July 2009. The series will debut in the US as mass market paperback originals, starting in either late 2009 or early 2010. Jo Fletcher at Gollancz originally purchased them in 2007.
