Steven H. Silver reports that actor Gil Stratton (sometimes billed as Gil Stratton, Jr.) died on 11 October 2008 of heart problems. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on 2 June 1922, he got his acting start on Broadway, appearing in the musical Best Foot Forward in 1941. His feature film debut came in 1943’s Girl Crazy with Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney.
His genre appearances include: Dismembered (2003), Galactica 1980 (1980), Wonder Woman (1978), The Cat from Outer Space (1978), and Monkey Business (1952).
In addition to his career as an actor, he was a television and radio news anchor and sports reporter in the Los Angeles area from 1954 to 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Dee Arlen (they married in 1961) and five children.
