Editorial note: I’m pleased to say I originally published this story in the sixth issue of Artemis Magazine, the science and science fiction magazine I published at the beginning of this decade. And speaking of Artemis, not a week goes by that I don’t get a submission for it, even though the last issue appeared in 2003.
