Matt Gagnon promoted to Managing Editor at BOOM!

Comic and graphic novel publisher BOOM! Studios has appointed Matt Gagnon to the position of Managing Editor. He joined the company in March to oversee the Farscape; his new promotion will have him overseeing the production of all BOOM! titles. Now, Gagnon will be working directly under the supervision and mentorship of Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid.
“Matt Gagnon is like the Michael Clayton of comics. At his previous job at Meltdown, I saw him in action, making things happen and fixing problems. At BOOM! he’s done the same thing, to the point where I probably ought to start fearing for my job,” Waid said.
“Well, technically Michael Clayton would never approve of a press release,” Gagnon commented on the press release announces his appointment.
Before joining BOOM!, Gagnon spent four years as the buyer and purchasing manager of Meltdown Comics, Los Angeles’ preeminent direct-market retailer. He also managed many of the store’s events, including the Y: The Last Party in conjunction with MySpace Comic Books and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. At the same time, Gagnon was the co-editor of the latest volume of the comic book anthology Meathaus, which includes work by James Jean, Tomer Hanuka, Farel Dalrymple, Ross Campbell, and many others. Gagnon has also worked as a writer/consultant for Gain Enterprises, in conjunction MTV New Media.
