Brenda Cooper discusses futurist issues raised in her novel

Tying in with her just-released novel Reading the Wind, author and futurist Brenda Cooper is posting a series of blogs on her web site that “look at the book and how the issues it presents tie in to our own society.” The book is “the second in a planned trilogy, and though it takes place on another world, the book tackles issues that affect us here and now. The story follows a group of genetically altered teenagers struggling to get by on a planet intended for genetically ‘pure’ human beings.”
Her first several of these posts include “A Wild World” (about how we adapt our environment to serve us), “Human Selection” (discussing genetics and gene manipulation), “Worldbuilding,” and “Energy: Free in the Far Future.”
Cooper co-wrote Building Harlequin’s Moon with Larry Niven, and is a regular contributor to Futurist.com,
