60th Annual Emmy Award Nominees

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 60th annual Emmy Awards (for excellence in television) early this morning. The Creative Arts Emmys will be awarded Saturday 13 September 2008; the Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out Sunday 21 September. Both ceremonies will take place in the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Battlestar Galactica‘s five nominations are the most it’s received in one year; last year it won its first Emmy. Last year, in its first year of eligibility, Heroes recieved eight nominations; this year, three. Lost‘s seven nominations this year bring it to 34 total (including seven wins) in four years. Pushing Daisies‘s 12 nominations are the first for the show (in its first year of eligibility). This is Smallville‘s sixth nomination in seven years of eligibility (including two wins). Stargate: Atlantis‘s nomination is its fourth in four years.
The most nominated program this year is the miniseries John Adams, with 23 nominations. Behind it are 30 Rock (17), Mad Men (16), and Pushing Daisies (12).
