Jonathan Strahan has nearly finalized the table of contents for the second volume of his original sf anthology series, Eclipse 2. Night Shade Books expects to publish it as a trade paperback original this October.
Strahan says “this really is the science fiction volume in the Eclipse series, with just two real fantasy stories in the book.” The “close-to-final” table of contents is below. Strahan notes that “there is one contractual issue to resolve, but I’m hopeful that’ll work out.”
“The Hero” by Karl Schroeder
“Turing’s Apples” by Stephen Baxter
“Invisible Empire of Ascending Light” by Ken Scholes
“Michael Laurits is: Drowning” by Paul Cornell
“Elevator” by Nancy Kress
“The Illustrated Biography of Lord Grimm” by Daryl Gregory
“Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom” by David Moles
“The Rabbi’s Hobby” by Peter S. Beagle
“The Seventh Expression of the Robot General” by Jeffrey Ford
“Skin Deep” by Richard Parks
“Ex Cathedra” by Tony Daniel
“Truth Window: A Tale of the Bedlam Rose” by Terry Dowling
“We Haven’t Got There Yet” by Harry Turtledove
“Fury” by Alastair Reynolds
Strahan says the Schroeder story is “a new Virga novelette,” and the Dowling is “the first new Wormwood story in 17 years.”
I bought Eclipse 1 last year, one of my favorite original anthologies of the year. I’m looking forward to number 2, should be as good or even better.
