Denvention 3—this year’s World Science Fiction Convention—has announced the winner of the Hugo Award base design competition: Lee Kuruganti.
Kuruganti is a professional digital artist based in Colorado. Her work has been published by Baen, Static Movement Online, Withersin, Spacesuits and Sixguns, the Lorelei Signal, and Sorcerous Signals. She created the posted for the movie Extinction, and says “one of my favorite moments was being selected as an artist for an international mural project for the Olympic Games in Seoul.” She is a graduate of Metropolitan State College of Denver (BA in English). Kuruganti’s prize for designing the base is a free attending membership to Denvention 3, and she will be the one to introduce the design at the beginning of the Hugo Awards Ceremony (which will be on Saturday 9 August at 7:30PM).
