Author Julian Rathbone Dies

British novelist Julian Rathbone died 28 February 2008. Born in London, England, on 10 February 1935, he wrote novels in a variety of genres. He was twice shortlisted for the Booker prize, and though he was never a bestseller, he was moderately successful.
His 1998 future-dystopian novel Trajectories was the most sf-nal of his output.
In school, he thought he wanted to be an actor, but his first payment for writing convinced him otherwise. He was a teacher in Turkey and England, and lived in Spain and France.
London’s Independent has a fascinating obituary of him at this link.
