Actor David Groh died of kidney cancer 12 February 2008 in Los Angeles, California. Born in New York City on either 21 May 1939 or 1941 (different sources give different years), he is best known for his role as Rhoda’s husband, Joe Gerard, in 28 episodes of the 1970s TV sitcom Rhoda.

Following service in the Army, he studied at the Actors Studio and appeared in theater productions “so far off Broadway, my parents would take subways and buses and taxis to try to find me,” he said.
His genre appearances include the film Last Exit to Earth (1996) and tv shows The X Files (1997), M.A.N.T.I.S. (1994), Tales from the Darkside (1987), two episodes of Fantasy Island (1981), Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979), and two episodes of Dark Shadows (1968 and 1969).
