SFScope and editor Ian Randal Strock will be in the Boston area this weekend for Arisia ’08, a major science fiction convention. This year, to take advantage of the holiday weekend, they’ve stretched the convention to four days (18-21 January), and just like last year, it will be at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge. Writer Guest of Honor is Laura Anne Gilman, Artist Guest of Honor is Marrus, and Fan Performer Guest of Honor is Eric Zuckerman.
This is a full sf convention, with programming, an art show, dealers’ row (no dealers’ room due to the hotel layout), dances, special events, and much more.
Strock will be participating on five panels:
“Homesteading in Space” on Saturday at 12N, with Martha H. Adams, Dr. Charles E. Gannon, Geoffrey A. Landis, and Allen Steele.
“Will 3D Printing Change the World?” on Saturday at 4PM, with Thomas Easton, Jeff Hecht, and Sarah Smith.
“The Realities of Setting Up a Business” on Saturday at 8PM, with Sheila Oranch, A. Joseph Ross, and Lisa Wood.
“The Rogues Gallery” on Sunday at 1AM, with Susan Hanniford Crowley, Israel Peskowitz, KT Pinto, and Bill “Crash” Yerazunis.
“Star Wars vs. Star Trek: Looking Deeper” on Sunday at 1PM, with Hugh Casey, MaryAnn Johanson, Jeff Warner, and James Zavaglia.
For more information on these, or any other panels, the program is available online at this page.
And if you’re going to be there and we haven’t met (or even if we have), please stop me and say “hi.”
