NSS-NYC presents Michael Belfiore

The New York City chapter of the National Space Society (NSS-NYC) presents author Michael Belfiore presenting “A Dispatch from the Final Frontier.” Celebrating World Space Week and the 50th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik I, he’ll be talking about “the new era of private space travel now in the works” as well as “the Space Age at 50 and what the future may hold.” Belfiore’s book, Rocketeers: How a Visionary Band of Business Leaders, Engineers, and Pilots is Boldly Privatizing Space was published this summer by Smithsonian Books.
After his presentation and discussion, they’ll show The Satellite Sky—an “entertaining educational, award-winning one-hour documentary video by Robert Stone Productions that captures the mood and context, with fascinating and enjoyable archival film footage, of the first five years of the Space Age (1957-1962).”
The event is this Saturday 6 October 2007 at 4PM (doors open at 3:30) at NYU’s Silver Center for Arts & Science, 32 Waverly Place, on Washington Square Park. It’s free and open to the public.
