Disney Publishing Worldwide moves to White Plains

Disney Publishing Worldwide (DPW) is moving its headquarters from New York City to new offices in White Plains, New York. The company is moving 175 employees, and expects to have the move completed within the month. They’ll be leaving about 25 editors (in the Disney Press, Hyperion Books for Children and Disney Editions imprints) in the current location, at 114 Fifth Avenue).
DPW Senior Vice President and Global Publisher Jeanne Mosure said that very few people have decided to leave Disney rather than travel to White Plains. She also doesn’t think having two locations will cause internal communications problems, citing the company’s experience with videoconferencing and teleconferencing. DPW is maintaining their New York City presence to “allow agents and authors to continue to meet with the editorial team,” according to Publishers Weekly. And editors “can come up [to White Plains] as needed,” Mosure said. They’ll be in White Plains every Wednesday for a weekly sales, marketing, and acquisitions meeting.
Mosure said the move gives DPW room to expand. It will also open up space into which the Hyperion adult publishing group will move, returning to a location it vacated nine years ago.
