Author and fan Hank Reinhardt dies

Baen Books Publisher Toni Weisskopf announced the death of her husband, author and fan Hank Reinhardt, the morning of 30 October 2007. He had had successful quintuple bypass surgery last week, but later developed complications, and his organs started failing late last week.
Reinhardt was a student of arms and armor for fifty years, and co-founded Museum Replicas, Ltd., which he continued to consult for. He was also the founder of the Historical Armed Combat Association, and a co-founder of the first science fiction clubs in Atlanta, Georgia, and Birmingham, Alabama. With Gerald W. Page he edited the anthology Heroic Fantasy, which was published by DAW in 1979. He was awarded the Rebel Award in 1973 and was the first recipient of DragonCon’s Georgia Fandom Award in 1990.

Toni Weisskopf writes: “Julie Wall is organizing speakers for the funeral/memorial service; we hope there will be many. I checked out the chapel today and it’s got a good feel—high wooden beamed rafters. We’re going to be able to bring in spears and shields to decorate it and Hank will be able to hold a sword.
“We’ll be catering ourselves, so a covered dish, something to drink will be welcome.”
The service will be held Saturday 3 November at 3PM at:
Bernstein Funeral Home Inc
3195 Atlanta Hwy
Athens, GA 30606
(706) 543-7373

A fund for the education of his grandchildren will be set up, and more information will be available at the service.
