Top Box Office Grossers: Second Week of September

Variety reports the top 25 movies for the week of 7-13 September in terms of box office take. Last week’s #1, Halloween, dropped to #2 behind this week’s new opener, 3:10 to Yuma. Halloween took in $12.1 million for a two-week total of $46.3 million. Stardust held its place at #10, taking in $2.4 million for a five-week total to $35.2 million.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix continued its slow but steady decline, down from #13 to #15 in its ninth week in release. This week, the film grossed $1.4 million, pushing its total to $288.5 million. Underdog, last week’s #14, was this week’s #17, taking in $1.1 million for a six-week total of $41.3 million. Transformers dropped from #19 to #21, this week grossing $774 thousand, for a ten-week total of $311.5 million.
The Invasion dropped out of the top 25 after only four weeks in release.
