Actor Jose Luis de Vilallonga Dies

Spanish actor and writer Jose Luis de Vilallonga died 30 August 2007. Born José Luis de Vilallonga Cabeza de Vaca on 9 January 1920, he acted under several variations of his name.
His genre appearances include Scarab (1984) and Giulietta degli spiriti (Juliet of the Spirits, 1965), but he may be best known for playing “Jose da Silva Pereira,” the dashing Brazilian millionaire in 1961’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
In addition to acting, he worked as a journalist for Spain’s national press agency, EFE, and for the magazines Paris-Match, Marie Claire, and Vogue. He wrote an official biography of Spain’s King Juan Carlos in 1993.
