Though the web site hasn’t yet been updated, Montreal has won the bid to host the 2009 World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon). The other main bidder, Kansas City, was neck-and-neck with Montreal during the pre-convention mail-in balloting, but the at-convention voting was overwhelmingly in favor of Montreal. One source we have (which has not yet been confirmed) shows Montreal winning the at-con balloting 3-to-2. Final numbers appear to be 507 for Montreal, 341 for Kansas City. The current plan for Anticipation, the 2009 World Con, has it in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the weekend of 6-10 August 2009, although the specific dates are not yet confirmed.
The 2008 WorldCon, Denvention 3, will be held in Denver, Colorado, USA, 6-10 August 2008.
