Sunburst adds YA category

The Sunburst Award Committee has announced their creation of “an award for Canadian young adult (YA) literature of the fantastic, starting in 2008.” Eligibility for the new award will be the same as for the current Sunburst, “except for the age of the audience to which the work is addressed.” As with the current Sunburst, the winner of the YA award will receive a medallion and prize of $1,000.
The Sunburst Award for Canadian Literature of the Fantastic is an annual, juried award based on excellence of writing. It is named after the first novel by Phyllis Gotlieb, “one of the first published authors of contemporary Canadian science fiction.” The winners are announced in the Autumn.
