Author Alice Borchardt died from cancer on 24 July 2007. Born Alice O’Brien on 6 October 1939, one of her four sisters is the author Anne Rice.
Following a career as a nurse, she published her first novel, Devoted (a historical romance), in 1995 with an introduction by Rice. It’s sequel, Beguiled, was published in 1996.
In 1998, she began publishing her “Legends of the Wolf” trilogy, about a female werewolf in the Rome of Charlemagne’s time: The Silver Wolf (1998), Night of the Wolf (1999), and The Wolf King (2001).
Her last two novels focused on King Arthur’s Guinevere, but also included werewolves: The Dragon Queen (2001) and The Raven Warrior (2003).
She is survived by her husband, Clifford, and four sisters: Anne Rice, Tamara Tinker, Karen O’Brien, and Micki Jenkins.
