Actor Robert (Barry) Symonds died of prostate cancer on 23 August 2007. Born on 1 December 1926, he was both a stage and film actor.

He married Priscilla Pointer, with whom he had been acting since his 20s, in 1981 (she was widowed, he, divorced). In addition to Pointer and her daughter, actress Amy Irving, Symonds is survived by his children, Vicki Morrison, Barry Symonds and Rebecca Wooldridge; two other stepchildren, David and Katie Irving; six granddaughters; and five step-grandchildren.
