The Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame and the Seattle International Film Festival Group are currently accepting entries for their Third Annual Science Fiction Short Film Festival. The festival’s goal is “to promote and encourage awareness, appreciation and understanding of the art of science fiction cinema.”
The entry deadline is 15 September 2007. They’re looking for “short film submissions, up to 15 minutes in length, that have been produced after 2003.” Submissions will be judged based on “originality, quality, artistic merit, innovation, voice, style and narrative. Submitted films that range from ‘soft’ or social science fiction to hard science fiction will be accepted.” They won’t accept horror or fantasy submissions.
The winners will be chosen by a jury of “distinguished film, television, literature, and science fiction industry professionals, peers, and film critics.” The chosen entries will be screened in competition during the festival,” in January or February of 2008, at the Cinerama Theatre in Seattle, Washington.
