Albedo 1 to pay for all stories

Irish small press magazine Albedo 1 is changing its pay schedule, effective with issue #34 (issue #32 is currently available). Currently, the story voted best in the issue (by the readers) receives a €100 prize, while all other contributors receive only a copy. Starting with issue #34, all stories will be paid at the rate of €3 per 1000 words.
The magazine continues to seek “thoughtful, well written fiction. Our definition of what constitutes SF, horror, and fantasy is extremely broad, and we love to see material which pushes at the boundaries.” They prefer stories of 2,500-8,000 words. Full writer’s guidelines are available at their web site.
Albedo 1 also runs a writing contest, called the Aeon Award. The third quarter of the 2006-2007 contest year ends 31 March, when they announce any stories making it to the shortlist. The final round runs from 1 April until the end of June. The prize is €1000 and guaranteed publication in Albedo 1 for the top three stories as chosen by SF author Ian Watson. The entry fee is €5. Full guidelines are available here. They’re looking for “submissions of SF, fantasy, and horror, or anything in between, with the judges’ tastes being quite broad in this regard. Of up to 8K words in length. The winner will be announced at the European SF Convention in Copenhagan, Denmark, September 2007.”
