Your final chances to win a copy of the Masters of Science Fiction DVD

We’ve given away seven copies of the Masters of Science Fiction DVD set—our three latest winners are Diana Francis, Mary Ann Kwiatkowski, and Jean Krevor—and have only three left. If you want one (and I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t), you’re going to need to contact us by Friday! E-mails (use the Contact Us link above) are okay; comments on a recent article are even better. Even email or comment garners an entry, and we’ll pick the final three winners at the end of the week.
And just what is this DVD, that we all know you really want, even need? Well, on 5 August, the complete critically acclaimed Masters of Science Fiction anthology series was released on DVD as a 2-disc set. The Masters of Science Fiction DVD contains the entire series—including the world premiere of the two episodes that were never aired! Originally broadcast last year on ABC, Masters of Science Fiction adapted short stories from some of the genre’s greatest practitioners, including Robert A. Heinlein, Harlan Ellison, Robert Sheckley, and John Kessel. Mark Dawidziak of the Cleveland Plain Dealer wrote: “I’ve seen what may be the best futuristic anthology series since the glory days of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. It’s called Masters of Science Fiction.” SFScope, too, was entranced by the shows, and you can read our reviews on these pages: “A Clean Escape”, “The Awakening”, “Jerry Was a Man”, and “The Discarded”.
Now, in partnership with Big Honcho Media, SFScope is giving away six more copies of the $29.97 DVD set. This week, as last, you can get in the running to win a copy by commenting on a recent article on the site (anonymous comments, though always accepted, may cause your entry to be ignored—make sure you give us your e-mail address when you comment, so we can contact you if you win). All comments received this week will enter their writers into the drawing, which will be on Saturday 29 August. We’ll randomly pick three winners from all the comments we receive by then, and give them the last three copies we have to give away.
In addition to the four aired episodes, the two unaired episodes, which are on the DVD, are:
“Watchbird”, based on a story by Robert Sheckley, written by J. Michael Straczynski and Sam Egan, directed by Harold Becker, and starring Sean Astin and James Cromwell.
“Little Brother”, based on a story by and written by Walter Mosley, directed by Damell Martin, and starring Clifton Collins, Jr. and Kimberly Elise.
For even more info on the series, hosted by Stephen Hawking, see http://www.mastersofscifi.com/site/.
Apologies to our readers outside the US, but Big Honcho can only ship to US addresses.

I’m a reader outside the US, but I do have a US shipping address, can I still win?
    Enquiring minds want to know!

Saw a few episodes of this series, and was overall quite impressed. The Harlan Ellison adventure really kept my interest (loved the JMS cameo, too) and stuck in my mind for quite a while after I saw it. In fact, I had it on video for a while and re-watched it a couple more times. The other episodes were also intriguing but didn’t resonate quite as strong. Either way, would love to see what I missed and, whether I win or not, am very glad the DVDs are out.

I remember looking forward to this series when I first heard about it — it was cancelled before I even realized it had started airing.

I thought the series was uneven, although the episodes seemed to get better later in the series. It didn’t help that the series aired on saturday night, iirc, and did not receive much in the way of publicity.

I was one of the 8 people who watched the series when it aired and I enjoyed a lot of it. I’m very interested to see the unaired episodes. And I’m cheap too, so winning it would be great. 🙂

I’m a lover of stimulation (chocolate, peanut butter, sex toys, science fiction).

Please, please, please, please, please????? You know you really want a set to go to the UK.

Cool. I didn’t win over at sfsignal, so I’ll give this another shot. This comment counts as an entry, right? Thanks!!

I managed to miss this entire series due to work and no DVR. I would love to catch a win here and am glad to know it is on DVD.
