A press release from Publisher Alex Davis of Boo Books:
Derby-based publisher Boo Books has just released its third title since the company started out in late 2013 with After the Fall. The anthology explores what might happen to the world after the collapse of technology, featuring 20 stories from local talent as well as published names from around the world.
After the Fall features as its headline story a new piece from Adam Roberts – one of the most widely-published and acclaimed authors in British science-fiction today – as well as a host of authors with significant back catalogues including Allen Ashley, Mike Chinn, Stephen Palmer, Rob Sanders and Simon Sylvester. The book also gathers together many fantastic emerging talents from around the region, taking in Derby-based authors MP Neal, Helen Ellwood and Emma Lannie as well as East Midlands based writers Andrew Kells and LD Lapinski.
Alex Davis, publisher and editor at Boo Books, said: ‘I couldn’t be more pleased with the line-up for this anthology, and it’s exactly the blend of local, national and international we always try and present with our short story collections. Having an author like Adam Roberts involved – particularly for a young publishers such as ourselves – is an incredible coup.’
The twenty stories in After the Fall present a mixture of work and styles, from the bleak tones so often associated with post-apocalyptic and dystopian fiction through the comedic and even upbeat takes on the world after technology has fallen away.
Alex Davis said: ‘Any short story anthology thrives on variety, and we have everything here from gritty tales of survival through to light-hearted takes on just how ridiculous the world might look and sound once we’re past the age of technology. This is a book that is bound to appeal to a wide readership.’
After the Fall is now available to buy via the Boo Books website for £8, including UK P+P. For more information, visit http://boobooks.net/bookshop/ or email boobooks@hotmail.co.uk
