Actor/director/producer Christopher Malcolm died of cancer on 15 February 2014. Born 19 August 1946 in Aberdeen, Scotland, sf fans will remember him as Rogue 2 in The Empire Strikes Back.
Malcolm actually better known as a stage actor, originating the role of Brad Majors in the 1973 UK stage production of The Rocky Horror Show. In 1978, he began his career as a theater producer, earning a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Musical Revival for Pal Joey. Three years later, he won the Best Comedy Award for Steaming. Later, he co-produced a revival of The Rocky Horror Show, and worked on Footloose the musical.
His first film appearance was a role in 1968’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. His other genre film roles include parts in The Spiral Staircase (1975), Superman III (1983), Highlander (1986), and Labyrinth (1986).
He is survived by his wife and daughter.
