A press release from Loncon 3:
Loncon 3, the 2014 World Science Fiction Convention, announces that online nominations for the 2014 Hugo Awards, the John W Campbell Award for Best New Writer and the 1939 Retrospective Hugo (“Retro-Hugo”) Awards open on 8 January at 0800 GMT (midnight PST).
The Hugo Awards are the leading awards for excellence in the field of science fiction and fantasy. The Hugos are awarded each year by the World Science Fiction Society, at the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon). They were first presented in 1953. Loncon 3 will also present Retro Hugo awards for 1939 as part of our celebration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the first Worldcon. More information about the Hugo Awards at Loncon 3 can be found at http://www.loncon3.org/hugo_awards.php .
Members of Loncon 3 who have an Attending, Young Adult Attending or Supporting membership by 31 January 2014 are eligible to nominate for the Hugo Awards and the Retro-Hugos. Equivalent members of LoneStarCon 3 (the 2013 Worldcon) and Sasquan (the 2015 Worldcon) at that date are also eligible to nominate.
All members eligible to nominate will be issued with a personal Hugo PIN to validate their nominating ballot. PINs are going out in batches; all those eligible to nominate for the Hugo Awards this year will receive one. Eligible individuals who have lost their PIN, or haven’t received it, should contact hugopin@loncon3.org. Any other questions about the process or the Hugo Awards should be directed to hugoadmin@loncon3.org.
Nominations must be received by 31 March 2014. The nominees will be announced on Saturday 19 April 2014; voting will then start, and the awards themselves will be announced on Sunday 17 August 2014.
A short time remains for entries in the competition to design the 2014 Hugo award base. The winning design should have a theme that highlights London, one of the truly great international cities and a frequent feature of genre literature. Design proposals will be accepted until Friday 17 January 2014 and the winner will be selected by 31 January 2014. Details can be found at http://www.loncon3.org/hugo_base.php .
