A Nation Shocked

A press release from Garen Daly:WotW-20Ticket

A benefit recreation of the famed radio broadcast that shocked a nation!

On October 30, 1938, Orson Welles and his Mercury Theatre aired a radio show based on HG Wells’ War of the Worlds. People thought it was real and panicked ensured.

Using the original script and using traditional Foley effects (sound), a recreation of the famed broadcast will be staged at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, Massachusetts, on Thursday October 31, 2013.

Instead of the Mercury Theatre local luminaries suchs as Christopher Lydon, Joyce Kulhawik, ChaChi Loprett, Henry Santoro and more will perform the roles.

Proceeds from this performance will go to the production of THE ORSON WELLES COMPLEX, a documentary film about the legendary cinema, film school and restaurant.

War of the Worlds will be directed by Nerissa Williams with sound effects by Austen Wright and Hal Wagner. Garen Daly is the producer.

Advance tickets are $20 (see this page), or $25 at the door.
