Saturday 21st September will see this first running of Andromeda One, a one-day science-fiction, fantasy and horror convention taking place at the Custard Factory in Birmingham. The event will bring together a host of writers and publishers for a day loaded with book launches, kaffeeklatches, panels, signings, writing and publishing workshops and much more.

The event will also be unique in offering a stream dedicated to workshops on gender parity, multiculturalism and disabilities within the genres of science-fiction, fantasy and horror.

This year’s Guests of Honour are acclaimed novelist, comic book writer and screenwriter Paul Cornell (famed for his contributions to the Dr Who TV series) and science-fiction author Jaine Fenn, creator of the Hidden Empire series.

Event co-ordinator Theresa Derwin said “I’m delighted to be bringing this exciting new event to Birmingham, which promises to be both heartily entertaining and loaded with useful content for writers. We’ll also be opening up discussion on some of the most pertinent issues today in the science-fiction, fantasy and horror community.”
