The Science Fiction Poetry Association has announced the winners of this year’s Rhysling Awards.
In the short poem category, the winner is “The Cat Star” by Terry Garey (first published in Lady Poetesses from Hell, from Bag Person Press). Second place goes to “Futurity’s Shoelaces” by Marge Simon (originally appeared in the Balticon 2012 Program Book). Third place goes to “Sister Philomela Heard the Voices of Angels” by Megan Arkenberg (first published in Strange Horizons, August 2012).
The winner in the long poem category is “Into Flight” by Andrew Robert Sutton (first published in Silver Blade 14). Second place goes to “String Theory” by John Philip Johnson (first published in Ad Astra). Third place was a tie: “The Necromantic Wine” by Wade German (from Avatars of Wizardry, published by P’rea Press) and “The Time Traveler’s Weekend” by Adele Gardner (from Liquid Imagination 15).

The SFPA is also announcing the publication of the 2013 Rhysling Anthology, edited by Rhysling Award Chairman John C. Mannone. The $12.95 trade paperback is available from online retailers.
