The David Gemmell Awards for Fantasy enters its fifth year in 2013, and again looks to celebrate the finest in fantasy fiction from the last twelve months with a sparkling awards ceremony this October. With awards for best fantasy novel, best fantasy debut and best fantasy cover art, these stunning prizes will again by sought-after by some of the very best in the field.

With just three months left until the prestigious awards event, the Gemmells are delighted to welcome aboard a new PR and communications officer, Alex Davis. Alex has been working actively in genre fiction for the last ten years, including in running events such as Alt.Fiction, Edge-Lit and Futura, and in that time has worked with a host of leading names in the field.

Alex said “It’s a pleasure to be involved in one of the leading genre awards worldwide, and a role that excites me greatly. I’m looking forward to further raising the profile of the Gemmells — and in turn fantasy fiction on the whole — over the next few months.”

Alex’s first task will be spreading the word about the awards shortlist, which will be announced on Sunday 11th August at the Nine Worlds Geekfest event in London.
