A press release from Bloomsbury:
Bloomsbury is thrilled to announce the acquisition of Take Back the Skies, an edge of your seat, epic fantasy adventure by 18 year-old Lucy Saxon which will be published in early summer 2014.
Rebecca McNally, Publishing Director, acquired global publishing rights in all languages for three books in the Tellus World Series from Maggie Pearlstine of Maggie Pearlstine Associates.
“Lucy is an outrageously talented young woman; her writing is extraordinarily assured and her vision hugely imaginative and ambitious,” said McNally.
“In a long career in publishing, I have never encountered a writer as talented as Lucy Saxon. Writing of this calibre is remarkable achievement for a writer of any age – for someone so young it is unparalleled,” said Pearlstine.
Take Back the Skies is Lucy’s debut novel. It tells the story of a teenage girl desperate to escape an arranged marriage and the life her father has planned out for her. Disguising herself as a young boy she stows away on a smugglers’ air ship and discovers a world of excitement and danger with the crew of the Stormdancer. Each book in the series will be set in in a different land within the Tellus World Lucy has created.
Lucy Saxon has always been a keen reader, but her love of writing began at the age of 12 when she first suffered from ME. She found herself missing lengthy periods of school, giving her the opportunity to indulge in creative writing. She is also a keen West Ham fan and regularly coaches football and riding to children in the school holidays. Lucy can often be found attending comic and fantasy conventions and ALWAYS makes her own, very impressive costumes. Follow Lucy on Twitter @Lucy_Saxon
