2012 Academy Award Winners Announced

The winners of the 85th annual Academy Awards were announced tonight. While Lincoln and Life of Pi topped the list of nominees, with 12 and 11 nominations, respectively, the awards themselves were much more spread around. Life of Pi won four, while Argo and Les Miserables each won three, and Django Unchained, Lincoln, and Skyfall each won two.

Winners of genre interest (including the historical-feature-in-which-the-story-hinged-on-sf Argo) are:

Argo: Best Picture; Film Editing; Writing (Adapted Screenplay)

Brave: Animated Feature Film

Life of Pi: Cinematography; Directing; Music (Original Score); Visual Effects

Skyfall: Music (Original Song: “Skyfall”); Sound Editing (tie with Zero Dark Thirty)

The full list of winners is on this page.

The two awards for Skyfall equaled the total number of previous Oscars won by the entire now-23-film franchise over fifty years.
