Deadline approaching for right to nominate this year’s Hugo Awards

A press release from LoneStarCon 3:

LoneStarCon 3, the 71st World Science Fiction Convention (“Worldcon”), issued a reminder that the deadline is fast approaching to gain the right to nominate for both the 2013 Hugo Awards and the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer.

To be entitled to submit a nomination ballot you must join LoneStarCon 3 or Loncon 3 (the 2014 Worldcon) as a Supporting, Attending, or Young Adult member by January 31, 2013, or have been a Supporting or Attending member of Chicon 7, the 2012 Worldcon. Nomination ballots must be received by Sunday, March 10, 2013, 11:59 p.m. EDT (Sunday, March 10, 2013, 8:59 p.m. PDT; Monday, March 11, 2013, 3:59 a.m. UTC/GMT).

After the finalists are announced, all Supporting, Attending, and Young Adult members of LoneStarCon 3 (including all members who join prior to the closing date of the final ballot) will be invited to submit ballots to select the Hugo winners. LoneStarCon 3 members will also be eligible to nominate for the 2014 Hugo Awards, to be hosted next year by Loncon 3, the 72nd Worldcon, in London, UK.

The Hugo Awards are the premier award of the science fiction genre, honoring science fiction literature and media, as well as fans of the genre. The Hugo Awards were first presented at the 1953 World Science Fiction Convention in Philadelphia (Philcon II), and they have continued to honor science fiction and fantasy notables for nearly 60 years.

More information about the Hugo Awards, including details on how to submit a nomination ballot, is available from www.LoneStarCon3.org/hugo-awards/. Ballots may be submitted by postal mail or online. Online voters will need a unique LoneStarCon 3 Personal Identification Number (PIN) to enter their ballot; these have been issued to members by email and also distributed along with Progress Report 3, for those members receiving printed progress reports.
