Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 7-13 December 2012. After three weeks, the final Twilight movie loses its luster, and its top of the charts spot. Skyfall climbed from #2 to #1, spying up $14.7 million, for a five-week total of $265.4 million. Rise of the Guardians climbed from #5 to #2, bringing in $12.6 million, for a three-week total of $63.9 million. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 fell from #1 to #4, chewing up $12.2 million, for a four-week total of $271.7 million. Life of Pi fell from #4 to #5, earning $11.5 million, for a three-week total of $64.2 million. Rom-com Playing for Keeps opened at #6. Wreck-It Ralph held steady at #7, tearing down $6.0 million, for a six-week total of $165.5 million. Red Dawn held steady at #8, shooting up $5.5 million, for a three-week total of $38.5 million.

Argo held steady at #13, rescuing $2.1 million, for a nine-week total of $103.8 million. The Collection fell from #11 to #14, killing $1.5 million, for a two-week total of $5.5 million. Cloud Atlas fell from #19 to #22, connecting with $250 thousand, for a seven-week total of $26.5 million. Looper slipped from #22 to #23, returning $200 thousand, for an eleven-week total of $66.2 million.
