The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced this year’s Golden Globe Award nominations, the 70th in the award’s history. The award ceremony takes place at 8PM EST (5PM PST) on 13 January 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and will be telecast live on NBC.
Last year, we saw the continuation of an apparent dislike of sf/f/h, when seven films and three television programs combined for a scant 14 nominations out of 25 categories. This year, eight typical films and two programs garnered 11 nominations, but three other films with overt speculative fiction elements or connections picked up 11 nominations. It’s a tough award for an sf film….
