The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) has announced the nominees for their 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performances in 2012 in six film and nine primetime television categories and for the SAG honors for outstanding action performances by film and television stunt ensembles. The winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on Sunday 27 January 2013 at 5PM PST, which will be telecast live on TNT and TBS.
Dick Van Dyke will receive the Screen Actors Guild 49th Annual Life Achievement Award.
As usual with these awards, there are few genre nominees, but more than last year. Categories with sf/f/h nominees include:
Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture: Argo, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Les Miserables, Lincoln, and Silver Linings Playbook.
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role: Alan Arkin as Lester Siegel in Argo; Javier Bardem as Silva in Skyfall, Robert De Niro as Pat Sr. in Silver Linings Playbook, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lancaster Dodd in The Master, and Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens in Lincoln.
Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series: 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, and The Office. Interestingly, this category is identical to last year’s, but for the addition of Nurse Jackie.
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series: Clare Danes as Carrie Mathison in Homeland, Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey, Jessica Lange as Sister Jude in American Horror Story: Asylum, Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick in The Good Wife, and Maggie Smith as Violet in Downton Abbey.
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series: Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock, Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy in Modern Family, Louis C.K. as Louie in Louie, Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, and Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker in Modern Family.
Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture: The Amazing Spider-Man, The Bourne Legacy, The Dark Knight Rises, Les Miserables, and Skyfall.
Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series: Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Sons of Anarchy, and The Walking Dead.
