Top Box Office Grossers – Fifth Week in October 2012

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 26 October-1 November 2012. Argo showed some strength, climbing from #2 to #1, rescuing $17.2 million, for a three-week total of $65.7 million. Cloud Atlas opened at #2 (we reviewed it in this article), connecting with $13.0 million. Hotel Transylvania climbed from #4 to #3, chewing up $12.1 million, for a five-week total of $133.1 million. Paranormal Activity 4 fell from #1 to #4, making $11.3 million, for a two-week total of $45.3 million. Horror sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D opened at #5, reaping $10.6 million. Sinister slipped from #6 to #7, scaring up $7.1 million, for a three-week total of $41.5 million.

Comedy Fun Size opened at #11. Frankenweenie slipped from #10 to #12, reanimating $3.2 million, for a four-week total of $32.6 million. Sports drama Chasing Mavericks opened at #13. Looper fell from #9 to #14, returning $3.0 million, for a five-week total of $62.5 million. Brave slipped from #18 to #19, making $400 thousand, for a nineteen-week total of $235.5 million. The Master slipped from #16 to #20, clearing $400 thousand, for a seven-week total of $15.3 million. The Dark Knight Rises slipped from #19 to #21, raising $400 thousand, for a fifteen-week total of $447.3 million. ParaNorman, which fell out of the top 25 two weeks ago, this week returned to the #23 spot on the charts, spooking up $250 thousand, for an eleven-week total of $54.9 million. House at the End of the Street fell from #17 to #25, killing $250 thousand, for a six-week total of $31.1 million.
