Publisher John Betancourt of Wildside Press writes with some news.
First, the company has new message boards. “Come by, hang out, chat with other Wildside readers. Here is the URL: http://movies.ning.com/forum. It’s set up to host our mystery movie group, but there are Wildside Press areas, too. Talk about books, movies, TV — pretty much anything fun. There are also market reports, for the writers among us.”
Betancourt is also a writer, and has news of his own work: “I’m publishing an online science fiction novel — classic-style space opera — called Horizon. I hope you’ll check it out. (It’s completely free.) You can find it at Jukepop Serials: http://www.jukepopserials.com/home/read/30. If you like it, don’t forget to click the “+” at the bottom — it lets me know there are readers enjoying it, so I’ll post more chapters. (I have about 60,000 words written and need some impetus to get it finished up. Horizon was originally supposed to be a paperback from iBooks, but the publisher’s death and the company’s subsequent bankruptcy put it in limbo…till now.)”
Wildside publishes print and ebooks, and magazines. Recently, the company has been releasing Megapacks: electronic anthologies of short stories available for $0.99 on line, and given away free at conventions.
