Speculative fiction’s hermit author Uncle River writes:
A photographer named Arthur Drooker has been in Pie Town several times, taking photos, he hopes for a book, and currently on a Web site: www.pietownrevisited.com. There’s one of me in there, in my cabin, with the wood cookstove in the background. Arthur also got an NBC crew here for a couple days, at Pie Festival time. I don’t know if I’ll show up in the result. They did film me, among others. But their two days here will be edited down to about 4 minutes to play on
air. But Pie Town will appear. Currently scheduled (unless something the network powers that be deem more important bumps it) for this Thursday, October 18, on a show called Rock Center with Brian Williams (whatever that is).
River previously lived the life of a hermit, but in recent years has moved into the “metropolis” of Pie Town, New Mexico, an unincorporated village of 2,900 people. He is the author of King Freedom and the forthcoming Mogollon News.
Since he’s unlikely to spread this word himself, let me tell you about a story probably airing on Rock Center this Thursday night. Uncle River writes that there was a crew in Pie Town, New Mexico, filming the place and interviewing him. There’s a web site discussing the tiny metropolis’s history with some of the current photos, and a chance of seeing it on TV. For more information, see this link:
