2012 Chesley Award Winners

The Association of Science  Fiction & Fantasy Artists (ASFA) presented their 27th annual Chesley Awards (for works done in 2011) at the just-concluded WorldCon, Chicon 7.

The winners are:

Best Cover Illustration—Hardback Book: Tom Kidd for Deathbird Stories by Harlan Ellison (Subterranean Press)

Best Cover Illustration—Paperback Book: Matthew Stewart for The Cloud Roads by Martha Wells (Night Shade)

Best Cover Illustration—Magazine: Lee Moyer for Weird Tales #357 (Winter 2010/2011)

Best Interior Illustration: Julie Dillon for “The Dala Horse” by Michael Swanwick (Tor.com)

Best Gaming-Related Illustration: Michael C. Hayes for “Distress” from Magic the Gathering

Best Product Illustration: John Picacio for George R.R. Martin: A Song of Ice and Fire, 2012 Calendar

Best Three-Dimensional Art (tie): Michael Parkes for “Moonstruck” (bronze)
     Vincent Villafranca for “Robobike” (bronze)

Best Color Work—Unpublished: Omar Rayyan for “The Dragon and the Nightingale” (watercolor)

Best Monochrome Work—Unpublished: Raoul Vitale for “The Yeti” (pencil)
