Innsmouth House Press’s first major fiction release funded in less than a week

A press release from Innsmouth House Press:
Innsmouth House Press, the new publishing arm of Yog-sothoth.com (a website devoted to the life and works of HP Lovecraft) announced at the beginning of May that the fundraiser for their new project, The Express Diaries, was open at Indiegogo. The project was fully funded within less than seven days, and they have now announced several stretch goals—further rewards for fundraisers if higher targets are met. Innsmouth House, delighted with the success of their first release, are considering similar future projects.
The Express Diaries is a tale of darkness and horror set on the Orient Express in 1925. It is written by Nick Marsh, who is a full time veterinary surgeon as well as weird fiction author. His previous novels—Soul Purpose and Past Tense, published by Immanion Press—are humorous science fiction novels in the vein of Douglas Adams and Rob Grant. The Express Diaries sees his fiction take a darker turn. It will be extensively illustrated (including 16 full-colour plates) by Eric Smith.
The book is due for release in the second half of 2012, and the fundraiser continues until the middle of June at www.indiegogo.com/epressdiaries, where you can watch the video trailer, download the first chapter of the novel and see some of the completed artwork.
“And so, my friends,” he said, looking back at each one of us in turn, “It falls to me to pass this burden to someone other than myself. I dare not ask, yet I hope that you will take it for me. The statue must be recovered and destroyed before these men find it.”
Europe, 1925. The continent still licks its wounds from the devastating war that raged across it a few years before. Meanwhile, in London, an aging professor has uncovered the clues to the whereabouts of pieces of an ancient statue, all but forgotten by history.
When his investigations lead him to fear for his life, he enlists the help of an unlikely group of allies: a retired colonel, a secretive academic, a magician’s wife, and a Yorkshire matriarch and her reluctant assistant.
Together they will journey across Europe to recover the long-lost statue. They will travel in style, on the most luxurious train the world has ever seen. Unbeknownst to them, however, their activities have already attracted the attention of a sinister cult, desperate to acquire the artefact for their own dark purposes, and now a terrible creature, trapped for centuries, senses that the opportunity for revenge has come at last…
The Express Diaries is a tale of a journey into darkness and horror on the world’s most famous train.
