Radio Theatre presents H.P. Lovecraft and more horrors

SFScope friend Andrew Porter alerts us to the current show at New York City’s Radio Theatre: “The H.P. Lovecraft Festival”, now through late May, in their Manhattan theatre.
Radio Theatre is a modern theatrical form using classic story-telling techniques, fully orchestrated sound effects, and some visual imagery. A full description of the concept is on this page.
Of the Lovecraft Festival, they write: “Now, for the first time ever in the history of live theatre… 40 of the greatest stories from the grandmaster of American horror… presented by Radio Theatre! Complete with award winning sound design and original orchestral score!
“Our first two Lovecraft Festivals were a re-sounding success, nearly sold out, filled with Lovecraftians from all over the world! Keep tuned as Radio Theatre Presents more great stories in our 3rd installment!”
The festival is divided into two programs. Program A includes “The Shadow Over Innsmouth” and “The Moon Bog”, and runs April 19, 21, 22, 27, and May 3, 5, and 13 (Thursdays-Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM). Progam B consists of “The Lurking Fear”, “The Statement of Randolph Carter”, “The Horror at Martin’s Beach”, and “The Evil Clergyman”, and runs April 20, 26, 28, 29, and May 4, 6, and 20 (Thursdays-Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM). The shows star Frank Zilinyi, R. Patrick Alberty, and Kevin Gilligan. They are directed by Zilinyi, with script and sound design by Dan Bianchi and sound engineering by Wes Shippee. Tickets are $25 from Smartix at 212-868-4444. The theatre is located at 85 West 4th Street, in Manhattan (one flight up from the KGB Bar, which hosts the monthly sf reading series).
Upcoming shows include “Lights Out!” featuring tales by Bram Stoker and Edgar Allan Poe, H.G. Wells’ “The Island of Dr. Moreau”, ghost stories, Dracula, and more. For full details, see this page.
