Eggplant Literary Productions launches, publishing e-books and short-shorts

Publisher Raechel Henderson writes that she—along with Art Director Samantha Press and Marketing Director Stephan Kelly—have reopened Eggplant Literary Productions after a six-year hiatus. Eggplant is a “small electronic speculative fiction press [that] has hit the ground running with calls for submissions for e-books as well as for their online transdimensional library: Miscellanea.”
Eggplant “specializes in speculative fiction novellas: e-books short enough to read in one sitting with stories and characters so engaging they stick with you days after you’ve finished the last sentence.” Their schedule for this year includes:
Etta Mae’s Little Theory by Lori Ann White
Vessel of Heaven by Jamie Rosen
The Illusion of Steel by Lenora Rose
They also have two titles scheduled for 2013: Hearts Starve by Patricia Russo and Spiritual Growths by Lori Ann White
E-book submission guidelines are on this page. They’re looking for works between 20,000 and 40,000 words, and offering a $250 advance against royalties of 25% of list price.
In shorter realms, they have five “Miscellanea” stories available, including:
“Widow Splonk’s Herbal” by Andy Brown
“Around the Worlds on 1,000 per Sol” by Alistair Young
“Real Estate” by Curtis James McConnell
“My Adventures in Society” by Guillermo del Como
“Things Begun in Shadow” by Amanda M. Hayes
For the “Miscellanea” feature, they’re looking for stories up to 300 words, and paying $10. Guidelines on this page.
They’re also looking at art portfolios.
