Announcing Ravenous Shadows, a new “movie-sized” e-press with teeth

A press release from Dalyn A. Miller:
Literary Partners Group, Inc. launches Ravenous Shadows, a new horror e-press beginning February 2, 2012, distribution via Amazon, BN.com and other online retailers worldwide.
When Literary Partners Group asked New York Times bestselling horror maverick John Skipp to lead Ravenous Shadows—an ambitious new line of quality ebooks, featuring thrillers ranging from mystery to horror to crime—he said, “Okay! But here’s the deal. A) I want books you can read in the time it takes to watch a feature film. And B) I want them to be better than the movie you could have been watching instead.”
Skipp’s first four entries in the Ravenous Shadows line range from classily-shocking Ira Levin-style mystery (Mikita Brottman’s House of Quiet Madness) to ultra-violent 80s-style Italian cannibal horror (Adam Cesare’s Tribesmen), an explosive Hitchcockian take on the last day of a modern suicide cult (Eric Shapiro’s The Devoted) to Jan Kozlowski’s Die, You Bastard! Die!—an incendiary sexual abuse/revenge story somewhere between Misery and Last House On the Left.
“What they all have in common,” says Skipp, “is that they’re tight, compact, kick-ass narratives that would also make excellent films. Not that that’s the point. Books are books. But we’re competing in a multimedia-verse, where time is of the essence. Most books I read these days are too long by half. I want short, powerful novels and novellas that pack as much punch, personality, and plot as books three times their size. And that’s exactly what we’ve got. I love these books.”
The first four Ravenous Shadows titles will be available on Amazon, BN.com, and other ebook retailers worldwide the first week of February. Ravenous Shadows plans to publish two to four new titles per month in ebook format in 2012.
