Chicon 7, the 70th World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), has started to mail out Progress Report #3 (PR3). Members should begin to receive their progress reports by the end of the week.
A downloadable electronic version of PR3 is available for members at www.chicon.org/progress-reports.php. Members who are uncertain whether they have requested electronic or paper progress reports can check their status with the membership team, who can be reached at reg [at] chicon [dot] org.
Progress Report 3 contains a number of important items for Chicon 7 members including the Hugo Award Nominating Ballot and detailed information about booking arrangements for the Hyatt Regency Hotel, our main hotel and the location of our function space.
The Hugo Award nominating process is open to all adult and young adult members of Chicon 7 who join by January 31, 2012, as well as all members of LoneStarCon 3 (the 2013 Worldcon) who join by the same date, and all members of Renovation (the 2011 Worldcon). Nominations opened officially on January 4, 2012, and members can submit their ballots online or by postal mail.
Chicon 7 hotel bookings opened on Monday, January 16, 2012. Progress Report 3 contains detailed information about all aspects of the Hyatt Regency Hotel including amenities, available room types, and room rates.
Progress Report 3 also includes a wide range of other content including a feature article on Guest of Honor Jane Frank, the Resnick Writing Contest in association with Guest of Honor Mike Resnick, a Student Science Fiction and Fantasy Contest, and details about the Chicon 7 Masquerade.
