John Grant’s The Encyclopedia of Film Noir to Limelight Editions

A press release from Pam Scoville of the Pamela D. Scoville Literary Agency:
John Grant‘s new and to date largest work on film, The Encyclopedia of Film Noir, has been sold by Pam Scoville of the Pamela D. Scoville Literary Agency to John Cerullo at Limelight Editions, an imprint of the Hal Leonard Corporation, for 2012 publication.
While The Encyclopedia of Film Noir will comprehensively cover noir’s Golden or Classic Age in the USA, its scope will also include noir from the rest of the world, and its coverage will range in time from select proto-noir movies of the 1920s and 1930s through today’s relevant releases. All told, it is anticipated the final volume will contain some 3,000 entries on individual movies plus entries on significant writers, actors, and directors.
John Grant, a winner of the Hugo (twice), the World Fantasy Award, and various others, is the author of all three editions of Encyclopedia of Walt Disney’s Animated Characters and of Masters of Animation. He is currently one of the team working to complete the third edition of the Clute/Nicholls Encyclopedia of Science Fiction. His most recent book is Denying Science: Conspiracy Theories, Media Distortions, and the War Against Reality.
Said John Grant, “Taking on an endeavor of this magnitude is obviously a daunting experience, but it’s one for which I’ve been preparing myself for years, researching hither and thither into what’s been a passion of mine since adolescence. That the book has been contracted by as expert a publisher in the field as Limelight Editions is a very thick layer of icing on what was already an enormous cake.”
Pam Scoville commented, “Passion. That is the word to describe this project. John Grant loves film and you don’t have to press him to hard on the subject to find out that film noir is his secret passion. I am thrilled to have found this work a good home.”
For Limelight Editions, John Cerullo said, “Over the years we’ve been home to a good number of highly respected and bestselling books on aspects of film noir, but we’ve always been conscious of lacking a single book that would bring all these strands together. Now at last we’ve found it. We’re very excited that we’ll be working with author John Grant on this important reference work.”
